Hide and Seek

Book By: Ida Vos

Review By: Bergen F.

Hide and Seek is about two Jewish kids who go into hiding from the Germans.  They are no longer allowed to go to school, the library, the movies, the park, and swim, play tennis, sit on a bench outside, or take a train.  They have to wear the Star of David on their clothes so everyone knows they are Jewish.  This story takes place in Holland in the 1940’s.  Rachel and her sister, Esther were in hiding for 5 years.  When the war was over, Rachel was13, and she was in 5th grade.  This story tells you how hard it was for the Jewish people during that time.

Swine Flu

By: Bergen F.

As you all probably know, Swine Flu is going around.  Make sure to wash your hands for 20 seconds, or sing Happy Birthday twice.  Also, make sure to use hand sanitizer when you go in and out of the room.

Swine Flu started in Mexico City, but got carried to America from travelers and people touching one thing.  Someone else touches that object, and gets the disease.  Swine Flu is dangerous, so it is always good to be prepared.

Cloudy With a Chance of Popcorn

By: Anna L

There once was a city called Ballmazzo and when the people of Ballmazzo wanted food it just came out of the sky.  You would watch the TV to see what you would have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One day, the TV prediction was completely wrong.  They said, “For lunch you will have a nice warm hot dog.” When it was lunch time, it was raining soup and mayonnaise.

Bubbas

By: McKenzie D.

Bubbas are cute pencil toppers. They are very big at Good Shepherd School. They also have exclusive bubbas. That means they are, like, 10 times better then the original. Some students (at Good Shepherd School) have gone bubba crazy. People are trading tons of stuff for little bubbas. You can buy bubbas at Kmart, CiCi’s pizza, and some Cub Foods. Some people think bubbas are bad and distractions in class. Some people think they are fine and not big distractions.

Wish

By: Sophia H.

I wish I had a billion friends who'd all be there for me.

I wish I had a billion dreams that would fly out to the sea.

I could wish for good things, like maybe I'd win the lotterey,

But instead I wish for a peaceful life with my friends, my dreams, and me.

Less

By: Animated

School today,

not much to say

No poems in my head

Oh my, what a dread

My shoe is untied

My dog has just died

I'm as sad as can be

With no poems in me
